Supermalt x WGLA

Supermalt, in collaboration with the Windrush Generation Legacy Association, launched a design brief inviting creatives to celebrate their heritage through a limited-edition Supermalt can. The challenge: express your cultural identity, honour the Windrush legacy, and tell a story that lives beyond the label.

My inspiration began at the domino table - In Caribbean culture dominoes is more that just a game, its a kind of unspoken language passed across generations, countries, and diasporas. I see the game as a symbol of continuity - bridging elders with youth, tradition with now. That ritual of tension - the slam of a tile, the pause before a play, the exhilaration that follows - became the heartbeat of my design. It’s rooted in those moments of connection, movement, and cultural memory that live on in British-Caribbean homes like mine.

My interpretation celebrates Jamaican roots through a bold, energetic illustration of a domino game mid-play - capturing the exact moment a domino is slammed down, echoing the unmistakable rhythm of Caribbean gatherings.

The idea was sparked by personal memories of family BBQs and Sunday dinners, where dominoes weren’t just a game, but a performance - loud, competitive and energetic.
